Version 1 · Excel and CSV input

Prepare your Schedule FA workpaper

Version 1 accepts CSV, XLSX and XLS files only. It works best with the CBTD template or a generic tabular file using the same column names. PDF brokerage statements and direct broker-specific statement parsing are not supported yet.

Your financial data stays on your device We cannot see your statement because it is processed locally in your browser. It is not uploaded to CBTD, stored on our servers, or attached to the optional enquiry form. Refreshing or closing the page clears the working session.

This tool creates a workpaper, not a filed return. It does not silently guess missing acquisition values, currencies or transaction types.

These are CBTD workpaper templates for organising data. They are not an official Income Tax Department Schedule FA form or filed tax return.

Transparent assumptions Missing information becomes an exception, not a hidden guess. Version 1 flags missing dates, currencies, acquisition values, unknown transaction types, duplicate rows, closing-balance mismatches and manually entered exchange rates. Broker-specific adapters and historical pricing will be added as separate modules.

Schedule FA professional review

Review the workpaper before filing.

The optional enquiry form is separate from the tool. It does not transmit your uploaded file, transactions, securities, quantities or values.

  • Residential-status and Schedule FA applicability
  • A2 and A3 disclosure review
  • Schedule FSI, CG, TR and Form 67 coordination
  • Prior-year disclosure or correction review

Questions

Schedule FA Generator FAQs

V1 is designed as a transparent workpaper generator with local browser processing.

Are my brokerage files uploaded to CBTD?

No. The file is read and processed locally by JavaScript in your browser. The raw statement and calculated financial values are not sent to CBTD.

What does this first version support?

Version 1 supports the CBTD manual CSV/XLSX template, generic tabular CSV/Excel files using the same columns, sample RSU data, draft Schedule FA A2 and A3 summaries, validation and local workbook export. PDF statements are not supported.

Does this tool file Schedule FA for me?

No. It creates a review-ready workpaper. You must verify residential status, ownership, reporting period, exchange rates and related income schedules before filing.

Why does the tool ask for ROR, RNOR or Non-Resident status?

Schedule FA generally applies to Resident and Ordinarily Resident taxpayers. RNOR and Non-Resident users receive an applicability caution.

How is peak value calculated in V1?

V1 uses the highest explicit transaction or closing-position value supplied in the file. It flags this as an assumption because daily market-price history is not yet imported.

Can I use a Fidelity or E*TRADE export directly?

Not reliably yet. Version 1 does not include broker-specific adapters. A broker CSV or Excel export can be used only if its columns match the CBTD template structure. PDF brokerage statements are not supported.

What analytics does CBTD receive?

Only privacy-safe events such as tool use, parser success or failure codes, row-count bands and workbook downloads. Filenames, holdings, dates and values are excluded.

What happens when I click Clear all data?

The in-memory transaction data, results and uploaded-file reference are removed from the page. Refreshing or closing the page also clears the session.

Disclaimer: This tool provides a draft workpaper based on the data and assumptions supplied by the user. It is not tax advice, a filed return or a substitute for reviewing current ITR instructions and the taxpayer’s residential status, ownership and foreign-income reporting.
